The file energyXT.ini contains the global settings for energyXT2. It is found in the main energyXT2 folder, and is automatically created if it doesn't exist when you run energyXT2.
Most people will never need to edit the ini file. Almost all the settings can be controlled from within energyXT2. If you do edit it, use a good text editor such as Notepad++. Using Windows Notepad will mess it up. Also, always make a copy of it before editing!
Reasons to edit energyXT.ini
- Using relative paths when running XT2 from a flash drive
- Renaming Browser folders when more than one are defined in a section
- Disabling audio if energyXT2 won't start due to selected audio driver
- Resetting keyboard shortcuts to default
- Resetting window positions in case they're off the screen
Format
As mentioned above, most text editors will alter the formatting of energyXT.ini. This is because it uses non-standard line endings (CR CR LF).
The basic format is:

Be careful about having multiple lines defining the same parameter, because this will probably make energyXT2 destroy the ini file.
Paths
Absolute or relative paths can be used, with either forward slashes (/Unix-style/) or backslashes (C:\Windows-style\). Folder paths work with or without an ending slash.
For Browser folder paths, the format is:
C:\Path\folder=Name shown in Browser
Any whitespace in a path will be used, so there shouldn't be any space around the “=” sign. The first “=” on the line is used to separate the path from the name, so if there is one in the path, it won't work right; for example:
C:\Path\with=sign in it=Name
will point to the path C:\Path\with and will be named sign in it=Name in the Browser.

Here is an attempt to document the settings file, showing each possible line, with the default settings shown where applicable (the Windows version was used to determine defaults). Virtually all of this can be changed from within energyXT2.
